Objectives

Two days of instruction are devoted to the many situations health care professionals deal with which involves astute assessment skills and rapid collaborative interventions. The pathophysiologic conditions covered are applicable to all personnel including emergency room, critical care, medical-surgical and extended care.


As a result of completing this seminar, the nurse will have the foundation of knowledge and critical thinking skills to effectively care for patients with traumatic injuries, respiratory failure, pulmonary embolism, pulmonary edema, heart failure, dysrhythmias, coronary artery disease and myocardial infarction, shock, disorders of the pericardium, spinal cord injuries, altered cerebral perfusion, and burns.


Respiratory failure, airway management, pulmonary (PE, pulmonary edema), cardiovascular (acute coronary syndrome, pericardial disorders, heart failure, dysrhythmias), shock, neurological (altered cerebral perfusion, strokes, spinal cord injury) and burns
