Objectives

Two full days of instruction provide an in-depth clinical understanding of challenging critical conditions and procedures performed on patients.

As a result of completing this seminar, the nurse will have the foundation of knowledge and critical thinking skills to effectively care for patients with respiratory failure, rhythm abnormalities, renal failure, diabetic ketoacidosis, sepsis and induced hypothermia. The nurse will have a beginning understanding of multiple organ dysfunction including ARDS, DIC, hepatic and renal failure, pancreatitis, myocardial depression and cerebral dysfunction.

The nurse will also be able to manage patients during rapid sequence intubation and those with CVP and arterial lines, mechanical ventilation, pacemakers, central lines, dialysis and critical care infusions.
